Growing Popularity of LPG

LPG’S popularity is increasing day by day in industries for a wide variety of uses. As we all know some of the major concerns these days for industries while choosing the right fuel  are efficiency, environment, heat
controllability, quality, costs etc. LPG is capable of solving all these problems thereby making it the best choice of fuel for many industrial applications. LPG is a pure, clean energy source which provides even and controllable heat which makes it the ideal heat and power source for a wide range of industrial uses. LPG  is an environmentally friendly fuel and is almost free from Sulphur so it can be used in sensitive situations such as chemical processes ,etc. LPG is also used for space and process heating to power industrial ovens, kilns, furnaces, machinery and in food processing units.  LPG is also used in centralised heating solutions both for domestic as well as industrial premises. You will find it being used in carbon-based home heating solutions. Not to forget that it is also found to be used in commercial heating processes. LPG is a mixture of Propane / Butane liquefied under normal ambient temperature and moderate pressures. It is a safe, clean burning, reliable fuel with high calorific value . In addition to its use as a domestic fuel, it is also widely used in industries, where there is a requirement of low Sulphur content fuel and fine temperature controls. The Chemical composition of propane is C3H8 and butane, C4H10.

Properties of LPG:

  • It is twice as heavy as air and half as heavy as water.

  • It is almost colorless and has to be stored as liquid under pressure.

  • It has a simple structure in chemical terms.

  • It in vaporous form is two times heavier than air.

  • Its weight is about half that of the same volume of water.

  • It is mildly anesthetic and can be harmful if it is found to be present in high proportions.

  • It can be compressed at a ratio of 1:250, which enables it to be marked in portable containers in liquid form.

  • It is safe fuel and ignition only within the specified LPG- Air ratio of 2% to 9%.

  • The ignition temperature of LPG is found to be in the range of 410 to 580 deg Celsius.

Advantage of LPG Compared to other fuels:

  • Clean Burning as it doesn’t produce any harmful gases.

  • Maintenance is low as compared to other fuels and hence burners have a long life due to no soot.

  • It vaporizes at atmospheric temperature and pressure hence no spillage.

  • Takes less time to heat due to high calorie value.

  • Effects of corrosion are greatly reduced .

  • It has minimal Sulphur content and is free of Sulphur emissions.

  • Temperature can be controlled easily with the help of knobs on the stove.

All in all LPG is a versatile fuel which makes it perfect for a lot of applications. Contact a home LPG gas distributor near your house and order your LPG for domestic uses.
